The Aboriginal Health Council of WA (AHCWA) is the leading authority for Aboriginal health in WA, working to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people and their communities. AHCWA is the peak body for Aboriginal health in WA and exists to support and act on behalf of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) across the state, offering support, advocacy and influence, building capacity, and strengthening the Sector.

AHCWA Training and Development Centre delivers a number of accredited and non-accredited qualifications and workshops providing culturally appropriate education and training to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people across WA.

Education and training offerings vary in length, cost (many are free or low cost) and requirements. Options include the Young Leaders Program, Family Wellbeing training and The Birds and the BBVs.

  • The Birds and the BBVs is a one or two day training course which aims to bring together Aboriginal Health Workers and others who work with Aboriginal people to increase their knowledge, skills, motivation and confidence to yarn about why testing for STIs, HIV and BBVs is important and identify ways to normalise testing within a routine health check.

AHCWA also have a wide range of Bite Size Education videos available for free.
