Curriculum Support Materials
The aim of the Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships: Curriculum Support Materials is to assist Western Australian school communities to provide comprehensive relationships (sexuality) education.
The Growing and Developing Healthy Relationships: Curriculum Support Materials:
- incorporate the principles of learning, teaching and assessment in the Curriculum Framework (Note: many of the principles are process related and depend upon teacher implementation);
- reflect a philosophy where abstinence from sexual activity for school-aged students is the key focus;
- emphasise a positive preventative approach and safer sex strategies which take care to not normalise sexual activity for school-aged students;
- reflect current research about patterns of behaviour and attitudes toward the sexuality of young people; and
- help young people to accept that they are sexual and that their sexual feelings and desires are normal.
